Dr

Dr. J. Najwa Oliver, an Antiguan student, graduated on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering. The degree was awarded by the University of North Texas. Her concentration was Biomedical Engineering.

Previously, Dr. Oliver completed a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering in 2021. She graduated with distinction. Her master’s GPA was 3.823. As a result, she advanced directly into doctoral studies.

During her PhD program, Dr. Oliver maintained strong academic performance. Her final cumulative graduate GPA was 3.835. In addition, she received a Leadership Award from the university.

Her doctoral dissertation focused on interdisciplinary research. It combined materials science, biomedical engineering, and implant technology. Specifically, her research examined bioactive glass coatings. These coatings were designed for dental and orthopedic implants.

Moreover, the research addressed several technical challenges. These included implant biocompatibility. It also examined inflammation control. In addition, it studied antimicrobial performance.

As a result, the findings contribute to improved implant longevity. They also support better patient outcomes. Her work focused on practical applications within medical device development.

Throughout her studies, Dr. Oliver worked within collaborative research environments. Her program emphasized applied research and engineering solutions. Therefore, her training included both laboratory and analytical components.

The University of North Texas offers advanced research programs in engineering fields. Consequently, Dr. Oliver’s work met institutional and academic standards for doctoral research.

Her graduation marks the completion of both undergraduate and graduate academic pathways in biomedical engineering-related disciplines. The degree was officially conferred during the December 2025 commencement ceremony.

Dr. Oliver’s academic record reflects consistent performance across graduate-level programs. Her research contributes to ongoing studies in implant materials and biomedical applications.
