Dominica’s PM Urges Major Reform of CXC System

Dominica’s Prime Minister has called for significant structural changes within the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). He argued that the current system needs to be modernized to better reflect the realities and demands of today’s students and societies.
Speaking at a regional forum, the Prime Minister highlighted concerns that the CXC framework has not kept pace with global educational trends. He emphasized the need for reform that goes beyond minor adjustments, noting that outdated practices could limit opportunities for Caribbean youth.
He urged fellow leaders and educators across the region to work together to redesign the system in a way that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. His call comes at a time when many parents, teachers, and students have also voiced concerns about the relevance of CXC exams.
