CWI Reboots Grassroots Coaching Across Leeward Islands & St. Vincent

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has restarted its Foundation Level and Refresher coaching courses in the Leeward Islands and St. Vincent. The training aims to strengthen school and community cricket programmes and raise the standard of coaching across the region.
The sessions began in Antigua on October 2 and will move through Montserrat, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Maarten, Anguilla, and St. Vincent by the end of the month. The programme marks a major push to rebuild youth cricket and nurture future talent.
CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, said the courses reflect a strong commitment to improving regional coaching standards. He noted that developing skilled coaches will help grow grassroots cricket and support the long-term development of West Indies cricket.
To ensure safety and professionalism, all participants also completed an online UNICEF Child Protection course and a virtual safeguarding workshop before attending the in-person sessions.
