Cricket West Indies Books Commercial Flights After ICC Charter Delays

Cricket West Indies has secured commercial flights for players and staff stranded in India. The move follows continued delays with charter travel arranged by the International Cricket Council.

Initially, the charter flight was meant to transport both the West Indies and South Africa teams. However, the flight faced repeated delays. As a result, the West Indies squad remained in India for nine days after finishing play.

During that time, players waited for confirmation from the ICC. Meanwhile, uncertainty about the charter continued to grow.

According to Cricket West Indies, the ICC normally manages travel and accommodation during major tournaments. This arrangement applies to both men’s and women’s ICC World Cups.

However, the planned charter flight failed to depart as expected. Consequently, the team remained stranded while officials searched for solutions.

At the same time, global tensions and aviation regulations added further complications. Because of this, the situation became increasingly stressful for players and support staff.

Therefore, Cricket West Indies decided to act.

Officials informed the ICC that waiting longer was no longer practical. Instead, they began working to secure commercial flights for the squad.

Soon after, several efforts were made to arrange travel. Cricket West Indies worked with players, partners, and the ICC during the process.

As a result, commercial seats were secured for members of the team.

Some players and staff have already left India. Meanwhile, the remaining members are scheduled to depart on Tuesday, March 10. Others will travel on Wednesday, March 11.

This step should allow the squad to return home safely.

Cricket West Indies said the decision focused on player welfare. After all, the organization wanted to reduce stress and uncertainty for those affected.

Moreover, officials stressed the importance of ensuring safe travel for both players and staff.

The organization also acknowledged the concern shown by fans and stakeholders. Many supporters had followed the situation closely.

In response, Cricket West Indies thanked everyone for their patience and support.

Now, with commercial flights arranged, the remaining members of the squad should soon complete their journey home. As a result, the long wait in India is finally coming to an end.
