Constable Shamar Smith wins 2025 Police Calypso Monarch

Constable Shamar “Mighty Birdie” Smith has been crowned the 2025 Police Calypso Monarch. He won at the Antigua Recreation Grounds during the 57th Police Week celebration.
He beat 11 other performers in a contest dubbed “12 giants.” Shania “Lady Ace” Samuel placed first runner-up, while Clint “Panampanana” Spencer came in third.
Smith’s journey is remarkable. He didn’t place in his debut competition in 2022. Then in 2023, he came second. This year, his calypso drew on real-life experiences among police colleagues, turning everyday drama into social commentary.
He received a crown, trophy, and cash prize. The theme of the show was “Rising to New Challenges, Serving with Greater Dedication.” Smith also hinted that he may appear on the main carnival stage in the future.
