Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers attended the Regional Security System (RSS) Chiefs of Security Meeting in St. Lucia. This marks his first regional engagement since taking office.

He departed Antigua and Barbuda on Tuesday, March 24, for the two-day meeting, held March 25–26, 2026. Acting Commissioner of Police for St. Lucia, Ronald Phillip, chaired the meeting.

During the first day, senior security officials from across the Caribbean delivered presentations. Additionally, representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, CARICOM IMPACS, and CDEMA contributed insights.

Discussions focused on enhancing maritime domain awareness. They also covered advancing the RSS Logistics Hub under the Regional Maritime Sustainment Initiative. Moreover, officials examined strategies for repositioning the region’s disaster management framework.

The meeting also addressed implementation of the Justice Protection Act. Participants discussed integrating Artificial Intelligence into law enforcement. Furthermore, emerging issues related to regional energy security were reviewed. Directors at RSS Headquarters provided updates on ongoing initiatives and operational priorities.

Commissioner Jeffers said he appreciated the opportunity to participate in high-level discussions. He noted the engagement facilitated meaningful collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Consequently, both the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the wider national security framework will benefit.

Jeffers returned to Antigua and Barbuda on Friday, March 27, 2026. During his absence, Deputy Commissioner of Police Louisa Benjamin-Quashie served as Acting Commissioner.

Overall, the meeting strengthened regional cooperation and advanced strategic discussions on maritime security, disaster management, and law enforcement innovation.
