College Student Dies After Four-Day Gaming Marathon

College

College student in Taiwan died after staying awake for four days playing online games nonstop. The tragic case has sparked new warnings about extreme gaming and sleep deprivation.

During his winter break, the young man spent almost all his time at his computer. He played online games continuously for four days and three nights. Meanwhile, he only stopped briefly to eat or use the bathroom.

However, his mother grew worried about his health. She repeatedly asked him to stop playing and get some rest. Still, the student refused and continued gaming through the nights.

Then, on the fourth night, the situation suddenly turned tragic. The student stood up to go to the bathroom. Moments later, his family heard him scream loudly from another room.

Soon after, he collapsed onto the floor. His eyes rolled back, and he lost consciousness. As a result, his family rushed him to the emergency room.

Doctors quickly performed scans at the hospital. The tests revealed a suspected ruptured artery in his brain. In addition, doctors confirmed severe brain bleeding.

Therefore, surgeons immediately performed emergency surgery. During the operation, doctors discovered a blood vessel had burst inside his brain. Unfortunately, the bleeding caused serious damage.

After the surgery, doctors placed the student on a ventilator. Meanwhile, medication helped maintain his blood pressure. Despite these efforts, he remained in a deep coma.

Later, doctors warned the family that recovery was extremely unlikely. As a result, the family made the heartbreaking decision to withdraw life support.

Before the machines were disconnected, relatives and classmates gathered to say goodbye. Meanwhile, the student’s mother stayed beside him and repeatedly called his name.

Medical experts say the tragedy highlights the dangers of severe sleep deprivation. According to health workers, long periods without sleep can weaken blood vessels in the brain.

Furthermore, stress, alcohol use, smoking, and overwork can also increase risks. Even young people without known health conditions may face danger.

Similar incidents have occurred before in East Asia. In 2012, a teenager died after playing Diablo III for 40 hours at an internet café. Later, in 2015, another man died after a three-day gaming marathon.

Therefore, doctors now urge gamers to take regular breaks, sleep properly, and monitor their health carefully.
