Caribbean Cannabis Regulators Unite at Cannabliss SVG 2025

Cannabis regulators from across the Caribbean, including representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, recently met to advance collaboration on the development and regulation of the regional cannabis industry.
The meeting, organized by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), focused on harmonizing policies and addressing shared challenges such as product standards, export opportunities, and the prevention of illegal trade. Participants agreed that regional cooperation is key to ensuring the safe and sustainable growth of the cannabis sector.
Antigua and Barbuda, one of the first countries in the region to establish a Medicinal Cannabis Authority, shared insights from its national program. The country emphasized the importance of balancing economic potential with public health and social equity considerations.
“It’s a great opportunity to be here again and see the growth of the industry,” he said. “You’re getting to see the success that’s now happening for the companies and for the country.”
The regulators plan to continue discussions on establishing a framework that promotes investment, regional trade, and compliance with international obligations.
