Cabinet approves big upgrades for Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force

The Antigua and Barbuda Cabinet has approved a sweeping investment plan to modernize the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF). The upgrades will focus on enhancing security, resilience, and readiness to respond to both domestic and regional challenges.

Officials highlighted that the initiative will include new facilities, advanced training programs, and updated equipment to ensure the ABDF is well-prepared for emerging threats. The government emphasized that these changes will also strengthen the nation’s ability to respond to natural disasters and contribute to regional peacekeeping efforts.

The modernization plan comes at a time when Caribbean nations are prioritizing stronger defence and disaster-response capabilities. Antigua and Barbuda’s leaders stressed that the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to national security and the safety of its people.
