BREAKING: Browne Wins U.S. Appeal in Alfa Nero Case

BREAKING

BREAKING: Browne has secured a major legal victory in a U.S. appeals court. The ruling centers on the Alfa Nero superyacht dispute.

The United States Court of Appeals ruled in his favour. It also supported other Antiguan and Barbudan defendants. As a result, the government’s position gained strong backing.

Moreover, the court upheld an earlier district court decision. That ruling rejected claims by Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov. She had argued that she owned the vessel.

In addition, she challenged the government’s 2024 sale of the yacht. However, the courts did not accept her arguments. Judges found no basis to proceed with her request.

Furthermore, the appellate court denied her application for discovery. It also quashed subpoenas sent to U.S. financial institutions. These included the Clearing House and the Federal Reserve.

As a result, the court ordered strict follow-up actions. All documents gathered under those subpoenas must be destroyed. In addition, her attorneys must certify that this is done.

Therefore, the decision strengthens the government’s legal stance. It also limits further access to financial records tied to the case.

Meanwhile, Browne’s legal team is weighing next steps. They may seek to recover legal costs from the appeal. This could add financial consequences for the opposing side.

Even so, Guryeva-Motlokhov still has one option. She could petition the U.S. Supreme Court. However, such appeals are not automatic.

Legal observers say the chances remain low. As a result, the case may effectively end at this stage.

Importantly, this outcome marks another win for Browne. He has consistently defended the yacht sale. He maintains that the process was lawful and transparent.

Separately, another legal battle is unfolding. Browne has filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States. The claim seeks US$10 million in damages.

The case targets attorney Martin De Luca and his firm. The firm, Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, has already been served.

However, efforts continue to locate De Luca. Authorities need to complete service of the claim.

Overall, the ruling brings clarity to a complex dispute. It also reinforces the government’s legal position moving forward.
