Brazil: Antigua’s Leaders Unite for Climate Talks
Brazil will host the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference, which Antigua and Barbuda is gearing up to attend. Prime Minister Gaston Browne has invited Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle to join the country’s official delegation. This move shows a rare sense of unity between political rivals on a critical issue: climate change.
The Prime Minister hopes having both leaders in the delegation will send a strong message. It will show that Antigua and Barbuda stands together in demanding climate justice. The island nation plans to highlight the recent damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, pointing to the real dangers climate change poses to the Caribbean.
By working together at the global level, Antigua wants to push for more support from big polluters like the United States. The country is asking for more financial help to deal with climate impacts and losses. Prime Minister Browne will attend key meetings himself and hopes the Opposition Leader will join as well. This cooperation could strengthen Antigua’s voice on the world stage.
