Antigua’s PM, Gramps Morgan Drop ‘Reparations’ Single

Antigua’s prime minister is using reggae to press for justice.
At the same time, Reggae Month activities continue to build momentum.

Antigua’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne has teamed up with reggae star Gramps Morgan.
Together, they released a new single titled Reparations.
Notably, Browne records under the name Gassy Dread.

The song will be released this Friday.
Importantly, it addresses the lasting effects of colonialism across the Caribbean.
As a result, it continues reggae’s tradition of resistance and awareness.

According to Morgan, the song goes beyond entertainment.
Instead, it pushes an urgent global conversation.
Furthermore, its release during Reggae Month and Black History Month is deliberate.

Morgan said reggae has always fueled liberation movements.
Therefore, Reparations reflects that long-standing mission.
He stressed that the issue must remain visible.

“I believe this conversation must continue,” Morgan said.
He added that many have raised the issue before.
However, he sees music as his contribution.

As a musician, Morgan said he represents Africans and the Caribbean diaspora.
Moreover, he believes the message must resurface often.
In doing so, society remembers ancestral suffering.

Morgan also emphasized justice and compensation.
He said the pain of history must not be forgotten.
Likewise, he said artistes have a duty to remind the world.

Meanwhile, the song aligns with the 2026 Reggae Month theme.
That theme is “Rhythms of Resilience.”
Morgan said the theme goes beyond remembrance.

Instead, it calls for justice and equity.
Additionally, he hopes listeners feel reawakened.
He wants the Caribbean and America to pay attention.

Morgan also hopes the song reaches the United Nations.
He said now is the right time for renewed dialogue.
Black History Month adds urgency, he noted.

He also referenced nations tied to the transatlantic slave trade.
These include Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, and Portugal.
He hopes the message touches their hearts.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Morgan praised Prime Minister Browne.
He described him as gifted and purpose-driven.
He also said the process felt seamless.

Morgan said Browne wanted to tackle a serious topic.
That decision impressed him deeply.
He added that justice matters to many people worldwide.

Finally, Morgan called Browne a visionary songwriter.
He said the Caribbean holds immense talent.
Reparations was co-written by Browne and Morgan.

Production was handled by Justin “Juss Buss” Nation.
