Antigua’s Energy Minister to Speak at Caribbean Energy Week 2026
Antigua and Barbuda’s Energy Minister, Melford Walter Nicholas, will speak at Caribbean Energy Week (CEW) 2026. The event runs from March 30 to April 1 in Suriname. It brings together leaders to discuss energy growth and investment in the Caribbean.
Antigua and Barbuda is pushing hard to switch to renewable energy. The country aims for 86% renewable power by 2030. It has already launched projects like a solar and battery plant in Barbuda that can handle storms. On Antigua, new solar power plants and rooftop solar systems are expanding. The government also promotes electric vehicles, clearing taxes to encourage their use and training mechanics to service them. These steps support a future with cleaner energy and less pollution.
At the conference, Minister Nicholas will join others to share how Antigua and Barbuda is leading the transition. The event will cover many topics from renewables to carbon markets. Minister Nicholas’s input will highlight how the nation’s work fits into the Caribbean’s bigger energy goals.
