Antigua’s Dr Marshall Named First Regional Dental Examiner

Antigua's

Antigua’s Dr Marshall has achieved a historic milestone as he became the first regional examiner for the National Trinidad Dental Board Examinations. The exams took place on November 27 and 28, 2025. Moreover, his selection marked a major achievement for Antigua’s dental community and strengthened regional professional ties.

In addition, Antigua’s veteran dentist joined a select team of respected Trinidadian examiners. These professionals trained in the UK, the US, and at the University of the West Indies. Together, they assessed candidates through written and clinical evaluations. Each candidate had to pass both parts. This process therefore helps ensure safe and consistent standards of dental care.

On Day 1, examiners focused on endodontics and fixed prosthodontics. These areas cover root canals, crowns, and bridges. Then, on Day 2, the team assessed restorative dentistry and periodontics. Those skills included fillings, deep cleaning, and root planing. Because of this, candidates must show clear proficiency before registration.

This session included candidates from Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados. Subsequently, the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago will release the final results after completing its review. The council follows strict rules to ensure fairness.

Furthermore, Antigua’s Dr Marshall brings decades of experience to the role. He graduated from Temple University in the United States. He also serves as a senior practitioner at the Dental Care Clinic on Stapleton Lane in St. John’s. Additionally, he worked as a District Dental Officer for many years. He now serves as Senior Dental Consultant within the Ministry of Health.

Moreover, Antigua’s respected dentist chairs the Antigua and Barbuda Medical Registration Board. He is also the Immediate Past President and current Vice President of the Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association. As a result, many regional colleagues view his appointment as a well-earned honor.

Finally, Antigua’s Dr Marshall expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. He thanked the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago for trusting him with this role. He also thanked the Ministry of Health and Wellness for approving his participation. In addition, he praised his colleagues for their steady support and for helping raise Antigua’s professional standards across the region.
