Antigua’s Cancer Institute Set to Open in Early 2026
The Cancer Institute of Antigua and Barbuda is on track to open in early 2026. The old machinery that delayed its reopening was removed last week. This clears the way for new, advanced equipment to be installed. The removal marked the end of a long legal dispute about who owned the old machines.
Now, the facility can start final repairs and add new cancer treatment tools. The new equipment is much better than before. It will deliver stereotactic radiotherapy, a precise treatment that targets tumors while protecting healthy tissue. This new method can cut treatment time from about 21 days to just five.
The opening of this upgraded facility brings hope to cancer patients in Antigua and Barbuda. They will soon get access to modern care at home. This will save them from traveling far away for treatment. The Cancer Institute aims to become a regional leader in cancer care with this fresh start.
