Antiguan Student Keion Liburd Graduates With Pharmaceutical Degree in the U.S.

Antiguan student Keion Liburd has reached a major academic milestone after earning a Degree in Pharmaceutical Studies from Georgia Southern University. His family says they are grateful and proud, noting that his journey reflects perseverance, discipline, and strong national pride.

Keion grew up in Golden Grove New Extension. He was raised by his mother, Jell Webson, his grandmother, Sybil “Edna” Parker, and his father, Robert “Bobby” Liburd. His family always encouraged his education, even when others doubted him.

Moreover, his early school years shaped his determination. At Adventist Primary School, a teacher once told him he would not excel because he was “too opinionated.” However, Keion refused to accept that judgment. Instead, he pushed himself harder and turned criticism into motivation.

He later graduated from Adventist Primary with honours. Because of his strong performance, he earned a scholarship to Island Academy. There, he continued to excel in all subjects. His teachers described him as focused, driven, and eager to learn.

Furthermore, his academic record earned him another scholarship — this time to Georgia Southern University. Moving to the United States was a major step, yet he adjusted quickly. He maintained high grades, joined campus activities, and stayed grounded in values taught at home.

Earlier this year, he proudly represented Antigua and Barbuda at his graduation ceremony. He wore a sash featuring the national flag, symbolising gratitude for the people who supported his journey. His family says this moment demonstrated how deeply he values the country that raised him.

Keion’s story is now an inspiration to many young Antiguans. It shows that humble beginnings do not limit great futures. It also proves that dismissive opinions can fuel determination rather than block progress.

Additionally, his family expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who encouraged him. They believe Keion’s achievements will open new opportunities in the pharmaceutical field. They also hope his success inspires students who face similar doubts or challenges.

As he plans his next steps, Keion aims to continue growing academically and professionally. His supporters say they expect even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.

Antigua and Barbuda celebrates his success and wishes him continued excellence in every future endeavour.
