Antigua Sees Major Road Progress in 2025, Plans Big Expansion in 2026

Antigua

Antigua experienced a busy year of road and infrastructure work in 2025. Across the island, crews repaired roads, upgraded curbs, and improved drainage. Furthermore, construction continued through December in many communities.

The Ministry of Works praised its teams, contractors, and partner agencies for keeping projects on track. Officials said steady progress was achieved despite challenges.

Looking forward, the ministry plans to expand road works in 2026. First, a new crusher at the Public Works Quarry will help increase material supply. In addition, three new cement silos at the government concrete plant will improve storage. These upgrades aim to support both road and housing projects.

Moreover, major corridor projects will continue next year. The next phase of All Saints Road upgrades is already planned. At the same time, community road improvements will carry on. To limit disruption, traffic diversions will be used when necessary.

The ministry thanked Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Works Minister Maria Vanessa Browne for their support. Also acknowledged were the Project Implementation Management Unit, contractors including C.O. Williams, and partner agencies like APUA and ABTB. Public cooperation was highlighted as key to success.

Officials emphasized that 2026 marks a new stage of infrastructure transformation. They said projects will be faster, more efficient, and community-focused. Residents can expect smoother roads and better connectivity across Antigua.

In conclusion, the ministry’s year-end recap showed strong achievements. Roadworks, drainage improvements, and major corridor projects all advanced steadily. With new machinery and storage, next year promises bigger gains.

Finally, authorities extended New Year’s greetings to all residents, encouraging patience as projects continue. Antigua is set for another year of visible infrastructure improvements.
