Antigua and Barbuda Pushes for Inclusive Development at UN Talks

Antigua and Barbuda has called for more fairness and inclusivity in the global development system during the UN Global Development Initiative (GDI) meeting. The discussions brought together leaders from around the world to address challenges facing developing nations.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne stressed that small island states like Antigua and Barbuda continue to face unequal rules that limit their ability to grow and thrive. He highlighted the urgent need for fairer trade practices, access to financing, and international support to meet development goals.
Browne said that inclusive global development must place vulnerable nations at the center of decision-making, especially as they confront climate change, rising debt, and other external shocks. Antigua and Barbuda urged the global community to build stronger partnerships and create systems that give all nations equal opportunities to succeed.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of sustainable development and cooperation across regions, signaling a push to reshape how the world supports countries most at risk of being left behind.
