ABLP

ABLP canvas was removed after a billboard dispute in St George. Notably, the incident involved political candidates from opposing parties. Therefore, tensions rose between campaign teams.

A canvas featuring Antigua Barbuda Labour Party candidate Max Fernandez was placed on a billboard. However, the structure belongs to United Progressive Party candidate Kelton Dalso. As a result, a conflict developed over its use.

Dalso said he received a call about the installation. In addition, he said ABLP members placed Fernandez’s canvas on his billboard. He confirmed he paid for the structure himself.

The billboard stands on a hill between New Winthorpes and Barnes Hill. Therefore, he said it covers a key campaign location in St George. However, he stressed the placement was not authorized.

Dalso said the billboard was empty before the canvas was installed. In addition, he gave the team a deadline to remove it. He set the time for 10 a.m. the following morning.

Shortly after, a crew arrived. They removed the canvas at about 8:45 a.m. Therefore, the dispute ended without further escalation.

Dalso said he built and paid for the billboard. In addition, he described the action as intentional. However, he did not provide further evidence.

He also said he would not accept intimidation or provocation. Therefore, he defended his right to control the billboard space.

Meanwhile, Fernandez responded to the issue. He said he was not aware of the situation. However, he suggested that if his team made a mistake, it was unintentional.

In addition, Fernandez said Dalso could contact him directly. Therefore, he encouraged communication between both sides.

Dalso later said he planned to place his own canvas on the billboard. As a result, the location remains part of active campaign activity.

Overall, the incident highlights rising political tension. In addition, it shows competition over campaign visibility in St George.
