ABEC issues deadline for transfers and first-time registrants
ABEC has set a deadline for completing voter transfers and confirming first-time registrants for the upcoming elections.
Firstly, electors who applied to transfer between constituencies on or before February 28, 2026, must finish the process by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026. The transfers must be completed at the ABEC Headquarters.
Otherwise, voters who miss this deadline will have to cast their ballots in their original constituencies. Therefore, completing the transfer early is essential to vote in the intended constituency.
In addition, ABEC reminded first-time registrants that only those who registered on or before February 28, 2026, are eligible for the April 30, 2026 general elections.
Moreover, first-time registrants must complete the claims and objections process. Once done, their names will appear on the official List of Electors for these elections.
ABEC thanked the public for their cooperation and attention. They urged all voters to act promptly to ensure participation in the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, the Commission emphasized that these steps help guarantee smooth voting on Election Day. Voters are encouraged to check their registration status well before the deadline.
Additionally, ABEC highlighted that completing the transfer and claims process avoids delays or complications at polling stations. This ensures all eligible electors can vote without issues.
With only weeks left before the polls on April 30, timely action is crucial. Consequently, the Commission urged the public to plan their visits to ABEC Headquarters in advance.
Finally, ABEC reminded everyone that voter participation is a vital part of the democratic process. Therefore, meeting the deadlines safeguards the right to vote in the correct constituency.
By following these instructions, electors can ensure their votes count and help shape the future government of Antigua and Barbuda.
