Trinidadian Fugitive Returned, Four Jamaicans Ordered Removed
Trinidadian national Cornelius Thomas, 39, left Antigua and Barbuda after authorities handed him over to officials from his home country. He was arrested during a joint task force operation late Saturday.
Thomas worked as an assistant manager at the Boardroom nightclub on Nevis Street. Authorities said Trinidad and Tobago wants him in an ongoing criminal investigation. Consequently, he will face legal proceedings there.
Separately, Antigua and Barbuda ordered four Jamaican citizens to leave the country. They admitted in court that they overstayed their entry permits. Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel issued removal orders after hearing their guilty pleas.
The individuals include Marcel Parker, 34, an independent contractor from Perry Bay; Kizzy Johnson, 36, a beauty professional from St. John’s Street; Javon Keroy Watson, 28, a carpenter from Bendals; and Luckicy Andra McDermott, 34, a barber from Yorks Village.
Immigration officers hold all five at the Immigration Detention Facility until their departures later this week. Officials said these actions highlight Antigua and Barbuda’s ongoing commitment to border security and immigration enforcement.
The joint task force actively prevents illegal stays and apprehends individuals wanted by foreign jurisdictions. Furthermore, the police and immigration departments coordinate with regional partners to keep borders secure.
Officials also emphasized that the government enforces the law fairly while protecting public safety. These measures deter illegal activity and maintain confidence in the nation’s immigration system.
Authorities ensure that all individuals receive proper legal procedures before removal or extradition. Officers plan to continue monitoring overstayers and collaborating with regional agencies. Likewise, public awareness campaigns remind residents and visitors of their obligations under Antigua and Barbuda law.
Overall, the country reinforced its immigration policies by returning the fugitive and removing the overstayers. Officials remain committed to protecting borders and maintaining law and order for all.
