OECS Celebrates Teachers’ Week 2025

OECS

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has joined the world in marking World Teachers’ Week 2025, under the theme “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession.” The message highlights that teaching is not just a career but a calling that requires commitment, creativity, and care.

Teachers across OECS member states are praised for their role in advancing the region’s Education Sector Strategy. Their input has shaped several initiatives, including the Digital Education Capacity-Strengthening Initiative (DECI), the Project for Educational Advancement and Relevant Learning (PEARL), and the new Digital OECS Harmonised Primary Curriculum (D-OHPC).

The OECS also pointed to the Digital Learning Ecosystem (ODLE), which gives teachers access to resources, professional development, and collaboration tools. These projects are designed to help educators strengthen their skills and improve the quality of learning in classrooms across the region.

Beyond programmes and strategies, the OECS message honoured teachers for their daily acts of compassion, patience, and encouragement. It also recognised school counsellors as key partners in supporting students’ development. The statement ended with gratitude, describing teaching as a joyful and unifying force for future generations.
