ABAA Appointed to ACI-LAC Governing Board

ABAA

The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) has been appointed to the Governing Board of Airports Council International – Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) for the 2026–2027 term.

The appointment was announced during the ACI-LAC/ACI World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition, held in Lima, Peru, from September 25 to 29, 2026. Antigua and Barbuda was represented at the international aviation event by ABAA Chief Executive Officer Kurt A.G. Menal.

The appointment gives the ABAA a stronger platform to participate in regional discussions on the development and future of the airport industry. It will also allow the Authority to engage more closely with airport operators, aviation authorities and other aviation stakeholders across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through its participation, the ABAA will have opportunities to exchange expertise, technical knowledge and best practices with other members of the regional airport community.

For Antigua and Barbuda, the appointment strengthens the country’s representation in regional aviation discussions. It also provides opportunities to develop partnerships and explore initiatives related to airport infrastructure, operational efficiency, safety and security, sustainability, technology, passenger experience and connectivity.

Strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s Aviation Sector

The appointment is significant for Antigua and Barbuda, where aviation plays an important role in tourism and the wider economy. A strong airport sector supports international connectivity and contributes to tourism, business and investment.

ACI represents more than 2,200 airports in over 160 countries and serves as the collective voice of the global airport community. The organisation works with airports, governments and aviation stakeholders to promote safe, secure, efficient, sustainable and economically viable airport operations.

ACI-LAC is the regional organisation for Latin America and the Caribbean. It supports airports through advocacy, professional development, training, technical cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The ABAA said its appointment strengthens Antigua and Barbuda’s engagement with the regional and international airport community. The Authority will use its participation to build strategic relationships, strengthen institutional capacity and identify opportunities that support the continued development and competitiveness of the country’s aviation sector.
