Eight Antiguans Rescued After Boat Begins Sinking Off Antigua

Eight

Eight Antiguans were rescued at sea after their vessel began sinking while returning to Antigua from St. Kitts. The incident took place Monday morning, about 19 miles off the coast of Antigua. The passengers faced an emergency when the boat started taking on water during the return trip.

Aventure Antigua owner Eli Fuller responded after reports of the distress. He reached the area and saw the passengers trying to reach a nearby ship for safety. Fuller and his team acted quickly. They brought all eight passengers onto their vessel and moved them safely toward Antigua.

The Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR) team also joined the operation. In addition, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard supported the response at sea. Together, both private and official teams worked to secure the passengers and bring the situation under control.

The passengers remained shaken after the ordeal. However, none of them suffered injuries. All eight were returned safely to shore following the coordinated rescue effort. The quick response from all teams helped prevent a more serious outcome at sea.
