Prime Minister Browne Says Villa Teens’ Deaths Not Gang-Related

Prime

Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirmed that the recent deaths of two Villa teenagers were not gang-related.

He said he has been briefed on the inquest findings. However, Browne will wait for an official police update before sharing further details.

The victims, 17-year-old Omarie Lewis and 18-year-old Brianna Clarke, were found unresponsive outside their Villa home two Thursdays ago.

Reports indicate a shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. Officers responded immediately, including the Criminal Investigations Department, Serious Crimes Unit, Forensic Evidence Recovery Unit, and St John’s Police Station.

Both teenagers were pronounced dead by a medical doctor shortly after, at 11:53 a.m. and 11:54 a.m. respectively.

Last week, police confirmed that two persons of interest—a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old—are in custody. Authorities continue investigating the double homicide.

Meanwhile, Browne emphasized that the deaths are not linked to gang activity or gun violence. This distinction is important for the community.

At the same time, police are appealing to the public for information. Anyone with tips is asked to contact the CID at 462-3913.

Alternatively, members of the public can report anonymously via Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477). Authorities assure all information will remain confidential.

Furthermore, the investigation remains active. Police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances.

In addition, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for community vigilance. Residents can help prevent further tragedies by cooperating with authorities.

As the case develops, officials stress the importance of safety and prompt reporting of any suspicious activity.

In conclusion, Browne and the police urge calm while investigations continue. The public’s support and tips remain crucial to solving this case.

The focus remains on justice for Lewis and Clarke while ensuring the community remains secure.
