2026 Carnival launch has been postponed, the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) confirmed. Originally set for April 11, the event’s start is delayed due to scheduling conflicts with key service providers.

Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, ABFC Chairperson, explained to Observer Media that external partners required to execute the launch had prior commitments. Therefore, the Commission could not proceed as planned.

She added that while a new date is not finalized, ABFC is actively exploring options to evolve the launch. Moreover, the location may also change depending on the revised format of the event.

Makhoul noted that after the Easter break, a board meeting will determine the new schedule. The Commission aims to ensure the launch meets high standards and delivers an engaging experience for participants and visitors.
